Port Lincoln Slipway Pty Ltd, established over 35 years ago, is based at Billy Lights Point, Port Lincoln South Australia, and specialises in marine maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, and surveys. We provide services to clients across the Eyre Peninsula and Australia, and our workforce is highly trained and experienced. THE POSITION
We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Machinist to join our team. This position will report to the Manager and will be based at the Shipyards at Billy Lights Point in Port Lincoln. Tasks for this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Using precision measuring instruments
2. Interpreting and reviewing blueprints, technical drawings, and job tasks
3. Determining suitable materials for jobs, methods of operations, and using associated equipment and machinery
4. Machine components to client requirements in an accurate and timely manner
5. Fitting fabricated metals into products and assembling metal parts to produce equipment and machines
6. Perform inspections of works undertaken
7. Receive and review daily jobs and prioritize scheduled jobs
8. Ensure job documentation, workshop drawings, job tasks, and inspections are signed and dated, as per company guidelines
9. Diagnose faults and perform operational and routine maintenance as required
10. Ensure all work is inspected as per company guidelines
11. Check fabrication and assembly for accuracy and clearance using precision measuring tools
12. Always undertake a high level of WHS Standards and a strong commitment to safety
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for this position, you must hold the following attributes:
1. Machinist Trade certification
2. Previous experience in the marine industry
3. Attention to detail and fine tolerances essential
4. Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical drawings
5. High level of problem-solving skills
6. Ability to communicate well with others
7. Keen and have a good level of fitness
8. Punctual and reliable, and available to undertake additional hours if required
9. Ability to work in a team environment as well as unsupervised
10. Able to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical including drug screening
