Strategic WHS Leadership for Optus
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) team at Optus is responsible for driving a consistent and robust approach to WHS management practice and performance across various Business Units (BUs).
This critical role will facilitate the health and wellbeing of workers, ensure compliance with legislative obligations, and lead strategic direction for WHS frameworks.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and/or participate in WHS incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain WHS practices that align with Optus policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring legislative compliance.
* Cultivate a safety-first culture by coaching, mentoring, and redirecting senior managers, managers, and employees on expected WHS behaviors.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior managers, employees, contractors, and franchisees, to communicate WHS matters and mitigate risks.
* Support projects and events to manage WHS risks, liabilities, and risk-related issues.
* Monitor WHS performance of assigned BU functions, providing timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders, and advising on gaps as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Degree qualifications in OHS/Risk or a related field.
* Extensive experience in WHS management in complex, multi-site, and multi-function business operations.
* Proven experience working with quality certified systems, such as ISO and AS/NZ.
* Demonstrated understanding and management of construction-related risks, hazards, and controls.
