The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially savvy Commercial Manager to lead the origination, development and negotiation of power purchase agreements with a globally renowned renewables IPP. Based in Sydney, this pivotal role involves managing tenders, crafting compelling commercial offers, and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other innovative energy solutions. You will collaborate across multiple internal teams, including Energy Management, Development, Finance, Procurement, and Construction, while fostering strong relationships with external stakeholders such as large corporate clients, energy market players, and government entities. Key Responsibilities Identify and develop strategic opportunities for the sale of long-term, bankable electricity contracts with corporate clients and energy consumers. Lead and coordinate responses to complex tenders, including those issued by governments and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Develop tailored commercial offers and innovative product solutions to meet evolving market demands. Negotiate and secure PPAs and other commercial agreements, ensuring favorable terms for all parties. Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including energy retailers, brokers, and major corporate energy consumers. Proactively engage with potential customers and their advisers to understand their energy requirements and present customized solutions. Analyze market trends and propose strategies to expand market channels and enhance competitive positioning. Qualifications A bachelor degree in engineering, economics, finance, business or related field. Masters degree is highly preferred. Proven experience in energy trading, origination, business development, energy procurement, or related commercial roles within the energy sector. Deep understanding of the Australian energy market, including regulatory frameworks and market dynamics. A track record in negotiating and closing PPAs, energy offtake agreements and energy products/solutions. Demonstrated ability to manage tender processes and develop commercially viable proposals. Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with superior communication and negotiation skills.
