Supplier Quality Engineer Job Overview
My client is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. They are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their global team, with the opportunity to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure their suppliers meet industry standards, the company's stringent requirements, and project specifications. Your expertise will be essential in minimizing non-conformance and ensuring the timely delivery of compliant products. This role does include travel to customer sites, so candidates will be expected to be willing to travel and stay away when business requires.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
1. Oversee internal and supplier-facing processes, adapting and refining them to enhance quality and efficiency.
2. Support production schedules by managing external inspection tasks, ensuring alignment with delivery requirements and client expectations.
3. Manage the supplier audit schedule, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on the findings.
4. Perform in-process, notified, and final inspections at supplier premises. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure the timely resolution of any non-conformities.
5. Apply your supply chain experience and utilize supplier performance data to assist in supplier selection and mitigate risks effectively.
6. Attend and facilitate kick-off meetings with suppliers to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.
7. Liaise with relevant departments to resolve conflicts and clarify specifications, ensuring smooth project execution.
8. Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), communicate technical requirements for rectification, and minimize disruption to production schedules.
Job Requirements
1. Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification aligned with relevant experience.
2. Experience in an inspection environment with qualifications such as NDT, CSWIP, NACE, or CompEx.
3. Proficiency in working with various materials and processes including castings, forgings, fabrications, machining, electrical, and paint.
4. Strong computer skills and familiarity with SAP or similar systems.
5. Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis.
6. Valid UK Driving Licence.
