About the Role: The Occupational Therapist at the Margaret Tobin Centre plays a vital role within the multi-disciplinary team, with the primary objective to enhance the mental health and functional independence of adults receiving inpatient mental health care. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering holistic, person-centred care to support the health and well-being of this population. As the AHP2 Occupational Therapist, you will be accountable to the MTC Nurse Unit Manager and the Principal Occupational Therapist SALHN Mental Health Services. You will have the opportunity to lead service improvements and use your clinical expertise to support the continuation of a robust Occupational Therapy service provision across the unit. You will have access to a broader network of Occupational Therapists across SALHN mental health services and will have the opportunity to collaborate across the division. Training and education relating to mental health care for this population will be provided during orientation and as an SA Health employee, you will have access to up to $2000 professional development funding via AHP+ PD funds per year to ensure your learning needs are supported. Quality clinical supervision will be provided as per SA health's Allied Health clinical supervision framework. Some of your responsibilities within the unit will include: Developing, implementing and evaluating a range of evidence-based work, recreation, living skills, and individual programs relevant to consumer needs, which assist consumers to develop/maintain skills for independence. Linking and coordinating an appropriate range of resources and specialist and general services within and across sectors. Undertaking functional and cognitive assessments. Providing trauma-informed care and interventions, including sensory modulation. Participating in multi-disciplinary clinical and discharge planning meetings for individual consumers including use of video-conferencing, with consumers, carers/family, community mental health teams, GPs, and other relevant interested parties. Supervising and mentoring the AHP1 Occupational Therapist on the unit. About you: Highly motivated and have the ability to engage with consumers who have a lived experience of mental health challenges including trauma. Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Experience in mental health service provision within a multidisciplinary team is an asset. Experience in providing evidence-based psychosocial Occupational Therapy interventions. Experience in the provision of a range of occupational therapy assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and skills including individual and group work. Ability to provide occupational therapy consultancy within the team and sector programs and evaluate occupational therapy outcomes. A commitment to evidence-based practice and values-driven care. About the Margaret Tobin Centre: The Margaret Tobin Centre is a 38-bed inpatient mental health ward located at Flinders Medical Centre.
