Our Corporate Office is located at Thomas Embling Hospital just 15 minutes north of Melbourne city. Due to our announced expansion across all Directorates, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team to support our growing services. Our Directorates includes Thomas Embling Hospital, Prison Operations and our Community Directorate with highly skilled disciplines including Nursing, Lived Experience, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychologists and Social Work. We have an outstanding L&D and discipline Educator co-hort that continually upskill our already skilled and supportive team.
About the Role:
The Senior First Peoples Consultant, working alongside our Manager, First Peoples Strategy and Advice, supports the undertaking of corporate and strategic service development activities across Forensicare.
The position has a key role in providing strategic advice to the Manager, First Peoples Strategy and Advice, in developing and implementing systemic improvements to enhance outcomes and experiences for First Peoples consumers, communities and workforce. The position will play a lead role in the development of service models, business cases, project and change management, and reviewing of new and existing models of care.
Your Role:
Lead the coordination across Forensicare’s executives responsible for implementation of Forensicare’s Cultural Safety Action Plan through actions that support and deliver improved cultural capacity across the organisation.
Provide expert and authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative options and solutions to complex or sensitive First Peoples specific issues.
Lead establishment, appropriate engagement of external supervision (procurement, contract management and monitoring) and support setting of directions agreed by a First Peoples staff network for First Peoples employees to share information, provide peer support and gain insights on our culturally safe environment.
Provide guidance and advice to capital works leaders and facility management on ensuring our physical environment is culturally safe.
What you need:

Knowledge of issues impacting on First Peoples and communities, in contemporary society and an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with First Peoples.
Experience in developing effective relationships and networks with First Peoples living in Victoria, using knowledge of cultural and communication sensitivities.
Proven ability to network with, engage, consult and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
