About the Role Reporting to the Safeguarding Lead, this is a significant role in ensuring Catholic Schools Broken Bay meets the responsibilities in supporting safeguarding practices and maintaining a child safe culture. This is a permanent part-time support role up to 20 hours per week.This role assists the triage and support of safeguarding case management, practices, claims, training, reporting and administration of the Safeguarding team. This includes supporting the management of records for staff allegations, student concerns, and professional standards matters. The role also provides team support to ensure that all compliance and reporting commitments are met. At times this role is also responsible for increasing CSBB employee's awareness of their safeguarding commitments through process improvement, learning and communication. The role will play a key role in maintaining professional contact with schools and coordinating records, information and, developing professional content as required.CSBB employees contribute to the shared responsibility of safeguarding students in our care. Key Role Responsibilities: Provides support to the Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding Partners and other CSBB staff regarding safeguarding at CSBB and in our schoolsProvides case file, reporting, legislation and administrative case support for safeguarding matters within safeguarding and child protection legislationAssists with gathering statistics, and data for reporting, PL content, and briefings as requiredProvides support to the Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding Partners and other CSBB staff regarding the school processes for legislative and policy requirements in SafeguardingProvide records and file management support to the Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding Partners for professional standards cases including investigations, National Redress and Civil Claim matters and search for records and case manage as requiredProvides support and triages calls, tickets and emails from School Principals, school staff and the wider school and CSBB community in relation to all aspects of safeguarding, including Child Safe StandardsMaintains accurate record keeping practices to ensure accountability and transparency in decision making and to ensure information is managed in an organised, systematic way in a secure and confidential environment. This includes the administration of case filesContributes to the development and delivery of safeguarding related professional learning, practices, policies and proceduresAssists with audits of schools and CSBB in line with the school review and development process in order to meet compliance with safe and supportive environment requirements for non-government schools (NESA) and Child Safe Standards (ACSL and NSW Government)Participates in cross-sector and cross workstream initiatives both within CSBB and within the Diocese relating to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people and promote systems and programs for the prevention of child abuse and neglectKeeps abreast of current issues and trends in National Catholic Safeguarding Standards, NSW Child Safe Standards, Working with Children legislation and be an advocate for the prevention of child abuse creating awareness of issues affecting the safety and wellbeing of students at school and our communitiesFosters effective relationships with the Broken Bay Diocesan Safeguarding teamTakes on and delivers projects as assigned by the Safeguarding Lead working collaboratively across workstreams as requiredContributes to the implementation and continuous improvement of child safe standards within CSBB and schools to ensure compliance and build a culture of safetyResponds pastorally and in line with Diocesan policies when working with historical abuse matters About You As the ideal candidate you will meet the following key requirements:?Supportive of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context?Previous experience in a case support role, social work role, paralegal role or teaching roleAbility to provide effective support for schools and safeguarding staff in relation to safeguarding administration, case files, investigations, practices, including resilience when exposed to abuse materialMaintaining professionalism when responding to enquiries for schools or CSBB staff in relation to SafeguardingKnowledge of Child Safe Standards and safeguarding practices and their application in an education settingUnderstanding and demonstrated experience of sound record keeping practices to ensure accountability, transparency and confidentialityExperience with or ability to work within a team where abuse and trauma cases present, including being able to demonstrate self-care and safety at work in this environmentDesirable experience in conducting training or creating training content for both small and large groups, preferably in the area of safeguarding or in an education setting with the guidance of the Safeguarding LeadStrong communication skills and a keen eye for detail to deliver consistently accurate and informed written and verbal communications suitable for the receiving audienceAdaptable to working within a fast-paced and high volume work environment and re-prioritising tasksAdvanced knowledge and skill in the Microsoft suite of products??
