Bechtel Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Hydropower Engineering Manager to lead the technical development of proposals, project development, and EPC project delivery. This is a Brisbane-based role.

About the Role:
This role is to join Bechtel’s growing Infrastructure Project Development Team, providing engineering management services to support development and delivery of a portfolio of Heavy Civil projects in Australia, with a focus on dams and pumped hydropower energy storage. The Hydropower Engineering Manager will participate in all stages of the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, early contractor involvement (ECI), FEED, detailed design and project execution, and contribute to technical feasibility studies, value engineering, cost development and strategic planning for the project.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Coordinates technical scope with Construction and Procurement Functions.
2. Provides support to Business Development, securing new work and external engagement.
3. Manages multi-discipline team executing conceptual design, FEED and project execution.
4. Prepares scope of work, coordinates bids and selection, and manages the delivery of engineering scope by design consultants.
5. Manages technical discussions with third parties (consultants, regulators, original equipment manufacturers) to facilitate appropriate technical solutions and decisions.
6. Provides leadership and inspires performance of the project team.
7. Other duties as designated.
What You Bring:
Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Hydraulic, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineering License (RPEQ). Experience of design development, feasibility studies, detailed design, and in managing design consultants, including scoping, technical specifications, tender evaluations, design review, and construction supervision. Demonstrable professional experience in the hydropower and pumped storage industry, ideally with an international developer, consultant or contractor. Demonstrable engineering skills and experience including civil structures, dams, tunnels, generation plant and powerhouse complexes. Specific areas of technical expertise would be viewed positively:
1. Large hydropower or pumped storage design and construction.
2. Experience of dams and large hydraulic structures.
3. Knowledge of geology and geotechnics.
4. Tunnelling and underground works experience.
5. Experience with design and integration of M&E equipment.
6. Experience with layout and construction planning of major hydropower or pumped storage projects.
7. Management of multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, procurement, construction.
Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
