Job Description:
SP Northern Farming Services Pty Ltd requires Biogas Plant Engineering Technicians (Farms) to directly support our numerous Queensland piggery farm sites/units. The position will be based out of our Lundavra biogas facility farm site in Queensland. The position will be responsible for deriving gas from organic matter produced by the farming operations by operating the machinery and equipment in the biogas plant.
The role necessitates performing tests, maintenance tasks and adopting preventative measures in the event of failures. All biogas plant facilities depend on the functional and reliable expertise of the Biogas Plant Engineering Technician to ensure efficient and safe operation. Further, the position will consult and directly contribute to the training and development of biogas plant staff in operating and maintaining the biogas production system, engaging in system optimisation, troubleshooting and process control to ensure facilitation of efficient and reliable biogas production and output.
Tasks and Duties: Operating biogas plant equipment such as valves, engines, and generators to ensure they function correctly in transforming biomass to biogas;Measuring and assessing the quality of the biomass feedstock;Calculating, loading and mixing biomass feedstock to be used for power generation;Calibrating liquid flow devices such as fuel, chemical, and water meters;Operating biomass fuel gasification equipment in accordance with specifications and instructions;Handling gas cylinders in a safe manner and ensuring they are compliant with health and safety regulatory requirements;Testing the purity of the gas using specific testing devices;Performing routine maintenance checks and repairs to all mechanical and electrical equipment in biogas plant;Ensuring the necessary gas pressure is maintained during the metal fabrication processes;Providing technical advice assistance and support to farm managers;Actively supporting, leading, and taking part in work health and safety initiatives across the site; andOther duties as requested by management that are within your expertise and skill set.Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or agricultural engineering, or similar qualification;Minimum 3 years relevant and related work experience in commercial biogas operations or related field;Demonstrated safety leadership in the past and will strive to maintain a safe and healthy workplace;Experience working in a farming environment, with exposure in intensive animal production an advantage;Demonstrated expertise in the management and maintenance of biogas plant operations;Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel an advantage;Ability to work under pressure;Ability to work as part of a team and achieve targets and deadlines;Quality assurance and control. #J-18808-Ljbffr
