The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality capital works projects for TasWater that will meet the needs of TasWater’s business, their stakeholders and the communities of Tasmania for years to come. The TasWater CDO manages the TasWater Capital Works Program from inception to completion including the planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.
We are on the lookout for individuals who will contribute to the development and delivery of our upcoming long term TasWater CDO projects. Our projects are based across the state of Tasmania, some including the Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant Expansion Project, Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan Project (TERHAP), Bicheno Recycled Water Scheme, Regional Towns Water Supply Project, Smithton Sewage Pump Station Upgrade & Pet Dam Safety Upgrade.
About the Role
UGL are looking for a Project Manager to manage a number of projects that we have located in the North-West of Tasmania. These include Ulverstone STP Upgrade, Smithton Sewage Pump Station Upgrade & Burnie RC Trunk Main Renewal.
This role can be based out of Devonport or Launceston with the requirement to travel to project sites.
What will a day in this role look like:
• Planning, executing and finalising projects for delivery to our clients.
• Managing the project teams to accurately and timely deliver projects according to schedule, budget and scope.
• Overseeing the quality control throughout the project life cycle and ensuring we meet the projects objectives and deliverables
• Focusing on acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members, ensuring that our clients’ needs are delivered in a safe, timely and efficient manner whilst ensuring a safe and effective operation of the project through sound communication, promotion of Safety and Quality Assurance, technical assistance and sound business practices such as commercial, compliance, procurement, human resources and financials.

What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
• You will have extensive Project Management experience working on large infrastructure projects (any water infrastructure experience will be highly regarded).
• You will hold relevant project management accreditation equivalent to Australian Institute Project Management (AIPM), PMBOK, Diploma, PMP or equivalent.
• You will have a strong understanding and knowledge of construction principles in multi-discipline contracting environment.
• You will have a high level of business and commercial acumen backed by a sound ability to create, read, and interpret budgets, financial statements and analyse variance reports.

What would we expect you to bring to the team
• Civil Engineering Qualification
• Significant engineering experience throughout, design, construction and commissioning on Brownfields and Greenfields projects. Any water infrastructure experience will be desirable.
• Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
• Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
