Primary Purpose of the position:
The Senior Payroll Officer reports to the Team Leader Payroll, responsible for supporting efficient and accurate payroll processes, data and reporting, as well as employee master data maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure payroll processes adhere to good practices, delivering accurate and timely outcomes with high customer service levels.
2. Act as the 2IC to the Team Leader Payroll, providing specialist payroll support and leadership to enhance payroll team effectiveness and capability.
3. Conduct fortnightly pay run processes in compliance with documented payroll procedures to achieve targeted cycle times and payroll accuracy, meeting council obligations.
4. Oversee employee and salary data integrity, ensuring accurate records and maintaining employee master data.
5. Promote efficient timesheet and leave processing to ensure correct and timely staff payments.
6. Oversee completion of workers' compensation schedules and process accurate payments.
7. Review and act upon payroll exception reports after data entry completion, ensuring accurate staff payments.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 5 years of payroll experience.
* Proficiency in SAP or similar HR and payroll systems, including employee payroll master data maintenance, reporting, payroll compliance, and risk management.
* Experience in managing end-to-end payroll processing.
* Knowledge of industrial awards interpretation and application.
* Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.
* Capacity to meet deadlines and problem-solve.
* General understanding of financial processes related to payroll principles.
