As a Maritime Electrician aboard the RSV Nuyina, you will be instrumental in supporting critical scientific research missions in the Antarctic. Working under the direction of the Chief Engineer, you will ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the vessel's electrical power, distribution, propulsion, control, and instrumentation systems. As a Maritime Electrician in the Icebreaker team, you'll make a positive impact by: Supporting electrical power and distribution systems onboard Managing propulsion and control systems during operations Maintaining instrumentation systems to ensure research mission success Collaborating with engineers and crew to resolve technical issues Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards Serco is a place for you To be successful in this role you'll have: A current Grade A Electrical Licence (Practitioner) with at least 7 years' experience Sea-based experience in the maritime industry Experience with maintenance, repair, and operation of marine communications, navigation, sonar, radar, network, and instrumentation systems Familiarity with control and instrument systems such as SCADA/IPMS and PLCs Ability to work with Australian and international electrical standards (e.g., AS3000, IEC60092) Experience with multiple suppliers and subcontractors Proficiency in Planned Maintenance software programs Ability to work within demanding timeframes, including working in confined spaces and at heights Ability to obtain an AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness Current Passport and right to work in Australia Capability to pass a rigorous Polar Medical, demonstrating optimal health and fitness Willingness to undergo a Police check Adherence to COVID-19 vaccination requirements As a fast-growing and successful global company, Serco's services span across areas such as defence, migration, space, and health.
