Centre Director - Perridak Burron Early Learning Ballarat & District Aboriginal Co-operative (BADAC)
Established in 1979 by the Ballarat Aboriginal community, BADAC's vision is to support and respect their people, enhance the community, grow their culture, and honor their heritage. BADAC is the Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) for the Ballarat and District area, covering 4 local government areas (LGAs). The organisation is proud of the contribution and support provided to the local Aboriginal community over the past 40 years.
About Our Centre BADAC is committed to closing the gap on educational disparities between Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal children. BADAC has facilitated the opening of an Aboriginal designed, managed, and delivered early years' service, Perridak Burron (meaning 'Platypus Children') Early Learning, which provides a culturally safe and rich learning environment.
The Opportunity We currently have an opportunity for a committed and highly enthusiastic Early Childhood Team Leader (Centre Director) to join our Perridak Burron Early Learning Team.
This role is on a full-time basis and is located at our centre in Brown Hill, Perridak Burron.
The Role Reporting to the Manager of Early Childhood Learning and Development, the Centre Director will lead the delivery of key initiatives, accountability, and the vision and mission of Perridak Burron Early Learning Centre.
The Centre Director will be responsible for the execution of innovative strategies, increasing children and their families' capabilities through cultural connections and access to integrated services, including:
Early Intervention and Prevention Programs Early Years Education Health and Wellbeing Services The Centre Director will work collaboratively with other programs within BADAC and relevant stakeholders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: Provide effective leadership and management of BADAC's Perridak Burron Early Learning Centre Programs. Oversee the provision of an educationally rich learning environment. Facilitate ongoing quality improvement and compliance with regulatory legislation. Liaise with the Family Assistance Office and Department of Education. Develop and implement program operating procedures. Work respectfully to empower community members and families. Ensure effective compliance and management of administration functions. Manage communication with stakeholders and governance committees. Provide support to the Perridak Burron Early Learning Centre staff. Build positive relationships with local service providers. Ensure compliance with OH&S policy and procedures. Undertake relevant training and professional development. Complete other duties as required. Key Selection Criteria: Demonstrated ability to promote Aboriginal cultural identity. Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent). Current First Aid certification. Pass a criminal history record check and hold a current Working with Children Check. Knowledge of the National Education & Care Services Law and Regulations. Experience in developing high-quality Early Years educational programs. Knowledge of the VEYLDF, NQF & NQS. Willingness to undertake training in the 8AWOL. High level interpersonal skills. Ability to direct and mentor staff. Ability to plan and prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently and cooperatively. Other Info To be considered for roles with BADAC, you will need to:
