Position Overview: As a Project Cost Engineer, you will collaborate with project managers, procurement, finance, and other key teams to develop and implement cost control strategies that support timely and budget-conscious project execution. They provide detailed cost reports, forecasts, and insights to stakeholders, identifying cost-saving opportunities and proposing mitigation strategies for financial risks. With a focus on data integrity and continuous improvement, the Project Cost Engineer ensures accurate, timely reporting to drive informed project decisions and efficient resource allocation. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain project cost analysis and estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and services, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project budgets. • Implement and manage cost control systems to monitor project expenditures against budgets and forecasts, identifying and addressing overruns in a timely manner. • Prepares and presents detailed cost reports and forecasts to project managers and stakeholders, highlighting variances between actual and budgeted costs. • Provides consultation on planning, coordination, and cost control of Projects. • Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of cost control strategies in line with team and Project requirements. • Assesses financial risks associated with Project decisions and proposes mitigation strategies to manage potential cost overruns. • Develops and implements effective cost tracking and reporting methodologies. Required Skills & Experience: • 3 Years relevant experience in a similar context – construction, mining or resources industry experience will be highly regarded • Bachelor’s degree in business/engineering/construction management or equivalent • Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. • Strong understanding of cost control processes, capital estimates, and project forecasting. • Knowledge and application of cost control principles. • Experience in reviewing cost forecasts considering expenditure to date and construction programs. • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint. • Proficient in the use of POWER BI, and MYOB Advance is highly regarded.
