Job Description
Our client is a small agribusiness with year of dairy operation experience located in Warragoon, NSW. They are currently looking to fill 6 Dairy Farmhand positions across their farming sites and grading floor, with work commencing from September 2024 onwards.
You are required to work in an open farm environment where dust and the smell of livestock is present. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with dairy cows on a daily basis; all animals must be handled gently and compassionately. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting. The work will be at times cold in winter and hot in summer. The working hours begin early, where you are expected begin work at 4:15am each morning.
You will be paid under Pastoral Award – Level 1, an hourly rate of $23.46 per hour, with a minimum of 38 hours of work, per week. You will be offered between 1-4 years of work with potential to upskill.
Key duties include:
1. Collect cows from paddock to the dairy using machinery supplied and operate it within the farm guidelines
2. Bring cows from yard to milking shed according to farm procedure.
3. Check and start the milking system, milk cooling, refrigeration, washing and feed system. Cup up cows after attending to appropriate udder hygiene
4. Remove cups from cows following the standard operating procedures (SOP). Prepare and apply teat disinfectant for use according to SOP. Oversee the movement of cows from the dairy
5. Identify cows with clinical mastitis, teat damage, lameness and other illnesses. Follow protocols for the treatment and recording of the condition

8. Live locally or be happy to relocate to Millmerran
9. Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties
10. Strong work ethic
11. Ability to perform manual work in hot conditions
12. Ability to work unsupervised
13. Initiative to see and treat animals with care and appropriate medicines
