POSITION PURPOSEThe Regional Teaching Artist role delivers Queensland Ballet’s early years dance program for children aged 2-5 years old, across various locations in the Mackay region, as well as Dance Health classes with the Mackay Hospital and Health Service, and Ballet Serene classes in aged care homes across the region.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSReporting to the Head of Community, Education and Dance Health, this role will work collaboratively and remotely with other Teaching Artists, Queensland Ballet staff, and community stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesWith support from the Company’s Community, Education and Dance Health team, Regional Teaching Artists will be involved in preparing for, developing, delivering, and collecting feedback from Queensland Ballet First 5 Forever dance and literacy workshops, supported by the Mackay Regional Council. Activities will be targeted at children aged 2-5 years old and their parent/carer who will accompany them to their workshop.With training and support from the Community, Education and Dance Health team at Queensland Ballet, the Regional Teaching Artists will deliver modified dance/ballet classes which are suitable for residents with varied abilities within aged-care facilities, and with specific in-patient groups at Mackay Hospital and Health Service. Liaising and maintaining valuable relationships with staff across the organisations and facilities of work is expected, in line with Queensland Ballet’s reputation and code of conduct. Travel across the Mackay Region will be required for this role, and the Teaching Artist’s position is itinerant, without a set work location.KEY CRITERIAWorking in collaboration with the Company’s Community and Education team, you will possess:A passion for, and extensive knowledge of, relevant dance techniques and/or classical ballet techniques, repertoire, and traditions.An understanding of the way in which dance and the arts can impact positively on and support physical, social, and creative health and wellbeing in children and adults.Demonstrated experience in teaching dance within varied contexts and/or qualifications in teaching dance and dance education.Excellent oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.A passion for working with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.A current Queensland drivers licence with no restrictions.A valid Queensland Government Working with children card (Blue card) or the ability to obtain one.DESIRABLE CRITERIAAbility to work flexible hours with pre-agreed workshop dates provided in advance.Passion for the Arts, Ballet, and/or dance.APPLICATION PROCESSPlease apply for this role via Seek with a CV and cover letter addressing your suitability to this role.
