PerthThe Cloudbreak Operations Planning team is seeking a highly motivated Mine Geologist.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, their focus will be to use their knowledge of iron ore geology to complete block-out designs using Vulcan, and to validate these designs in the field.
They will be required to communicate this geological information in a safe, accurate, and timely manner to various stakeholders.
They will also be required to communicate effectively with mining and engineering teams to ensure consistent grade control.
To be successful in this role, candidates must have strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.Key ResponsibilitiesComplete technical tasks using Vulcan or equivalent software to deliver grade designs in a timely and accurate mannerEnsure that all plans are communicated in a safe, accurate, and timely manner to various stakeholdersEnsure that material on stockpiles is accurate and consistent with planned objectives.Communicate and work closely with technical and engineering teams to maximise daily and weekly plansCommunicate effectively and provide accurate geological data and advice to mining teams on a regular basisMentor and communicate daily with excavator operators in an open-pit settingProvide input to technical services to maximise output and ore recovery at the lowest costSupport Senior and Project Mine Geologists in meeting company objectives and KPI'sEnsure compliance with the FMG standards and statutory obligationsQualifications and ExperienceTertiary bachelor's qualification in Geology or related disciplineExperience working in a mining environment is preferredSome working knowledge of Vulcan desirableStrong leadership skills and interpersonal skillsOur CommitmentFortescue celebrates individual strengths and team members are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
