Are you a seasoned leader with a passion for forest management and bushfire risk mitigation? The Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA) is seeking a Director for our Forest and Fire Programs to lead a range of state-wide forest and fire management programs that support effective forest management activities, forest health and resilience outcomes, as well as management of bushfire risk on public land.
As a strategic advisor to the Chief Fire Officer and other senior executives, you will provide authoritative guidance on matters within the Bushfire and Forest Services portfolio, working collaboratively with executives across the Forest and Fire Operations Division (FFOD) to enable effective program delivery and reporting. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of the Forest Contractor Program, ensuring critical specialist contractor capability to support forest and emergency management efforts.
You will also collaborate with executives, local communities, and emergency management agencies to develop and implement impactful forest and fire management strategies. About you:
To be successful in the role, you will have:
* Qualifications in emergency or environmental management, law, public policy or other related discipline will be highly regarded.
* Extensive experience in a senior leadership position in a large, regionally dispersed organisation will be highly regarded.
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience in forest or public land management is essential.
* Ability to foster a collaborative culture internally and with external stakeholders.
* Skills in evaluating complex problems and delivering sustainable solutions across various governmental levels.
* Visionary leadership, articulating and implementing strategies aligned with organizational goals, while keeping informed about future trends.
* Demonstrates ethical leadership, cultivates a culture that maximizes team performance, and prioritizes people engagement.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
