Austrade's network provides services to staff in approximately 60 locations in over 50 countries and needs to be supported 24x7. Our network is adopting a cloud first approach with a goal of reducing our on premise footprint. This role will provide opportunity to contribute to these projects. The role is primarily focussed on operational maintenance of the environment, responding to incidents and service requests but will also involve project work to implement new digital services and enhance Austrade's network services This role will require working weekends and outside of normal business hours as well as the ability to provide on-call support. Technical Skills required to perform the role: - Demonstrated technical understanding of, and experience with Fortinet, Cisco and Azure networking suite of services and products. Experience with FortiGate, Forti Manager, Forti Authenticator and Forti Analyzer Experience with Solarwinds or other equivalent network monitoring tools Operational experience and troubleshooting skills with global network communications deployments. Functional knowledge and experience of telecommunications standards and protocols such as; IP/TCP/UDP, routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), QoS/DSCP and DMVPN/ADVPN Functional knowledge and experience of SNMPv3, Netflow, AVC, NBAR and network performance monitoring/management tools and methods Experience of Public Key Cryptography principles as well as Network Authentication and encryption protocols such as IPSEC/IKE, 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS, SSL/TLS, EAP Key duties and responsibilities The Network Engineer will be responsible for: Performing day-to-day level 2 and 3 support and administration activities for a global network including responding to system faults, configuration updates, monitoring system health and maintaining disaster recovery manuals Installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco and Fortinet hardware and software platforms to provide Data Centre Networking, SDWAN, VPN Remote Access and WiFi Identifying and providing technical details for implementing system improvements, both within and outside formal projects. Researching, evaluating and implementing new hardware, software and processes for the development, management and support of Austrade’s corporate communication networks and make recommendations for the acquisition of relevant goods or services Managing system upgrades and following ISM guidelines to maintain Maturity Level 2 security posture Ensuring network service documentation and standard operating procedures are up to date and relevant. Participation in an oncall roster to respond to urgent issues after hours. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Demonstrated technical understanding of, and experience with Relevant tools and technologies 2. Operational experience and troubleshooting skills with global network communications deployments 3. Sound oral and written communications skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with management, users, external organisations and other IT staff 4. The ability to prioritise and meet timeframes whilst supporting both business-as-usual operations and Projects. 5. Cybersecurity awareness and experience in implementing measures to resolve and mitigate vulnerabilities. Desirable criteria 1. Cisco certification such as CCNA, or equivalent experience. 2.
