Assistant Director, Engagement and Communications Marketing Communications (Marketing & Communications)
We are currently seeking experienced Communications professionals for two EL1 positions, available on a 6 or 12 month non-ongoing, labour hire, or temporary Section 26 transfer basis, with potential for extension.
The key focus of the role is to manage a small team to deliver internal, external, and digital communications. You will provide strategic advice to leadership on effective internal and external communication and engagement approaches, manage the maintenance of the flagship website, and facilitate the development of communications tools and content.
If you are an experienced Communications Leader who prides yourself on your ability to build strong relationships with internal clients, collaborate with SMEs, and enjoy mentoring and coaching team members while driving the team's strategic vision, then this could be THE role for YOU.
On offer is the opportunity to make your mark, helping transition the communications team from a reactive, business-as-usual model to a proactive, strategic approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and lead a small multi-disciplinary team to deliver internal and external communications, including digital communications. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff and other government agencies to ensure the flow of relevant information to the CEO and Executive. Manage resources, including procurement and the engagement of external service providers. Address communication, media, and engagement issues, risks, and opportunities. Lead the development of comprehensive communications and engagement strategies. Support a program of activities to build reputation among key stakeholders. Champion best practice communications, media, and engagement including stakeholder management. Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidates will be Communications Generalists with relevant experience within the public sector and strong strategic skills.
Demonstrated ability to produce, implement, and evaluate communications strategies for internal and external use, across a range of channels and media. Proven ability to manage a small team across different locations and work patterns. Excellent relationship-building skills, facilitating cooperation with internal and external stakeholders. Strong ability to collaborate and distill technical information into accessible content. A passion for driving strategic communications initiatives. While there is a preference for candidates based in Canberra or Sydney, the position offers flexible work arrangements, including the option for fully remote work for the right candidate. For those in Canberra, there is an expectation of being in the office 50% of the time. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact communications team and help shape the strategic direction of its work. If you're an all-rounder with a passion for leading strategic communications, we encourage you to apply.
