Lead the Way in Agricultural Economics
We are seeking a Senior Agricultural Economist to join our team at DPI. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will lead innovative projects to deliver high-quality economic evaluations and communicate information that targets improved profitability and sustainability.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics, business, or agriculture, with experience in dealing with the agricultural sector and primary producers highly regarded. You will be required to undertake overnight travel to fulfill certain tasks and frequent travel to regional areas.
In this role, you will:
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with landholders, industry organisations, colleagues, natural resource management groups, universities, and other government agencies.
* Develop bio-economic models and use other economic analysis methods to assess agricultural production activities, natural resource management initiatives, and policy analysis.
* Utilise and provide training to stakeholders in the use of DPI economic decision support tools.
* Use computer and scientific technologies to analyse data and produce reports in a timely manner to meet project milestones and management needs.
* Provide advice and direction to management and stakeholders to improve service delivery and ensure quality outcomes.
* Supervise and mentor staff to meet project requirements and assist in the professional development of regional economists.
* Develop and implement new projects and collaborative service delivery partnerships targeting improved competitiveness and sustainability within agricultural sectors.
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be an Australian citizen, hold permanent residency status, or possess a visa allowing you to work in Australia. A current 'C' class drivers licence is also required.
A Bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in economics, business, or agriculture (including economics/business) is required. For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
