Low Side Cloud Branch is currently building and maintaining some of the organisation's key systems. The Branch is also focused on the development of processes and architectures to ensure the organisation gets the most out of cloud, such as cloud financial operations, migration, design patterns, automation, and monitoring. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Platform Team deliver modern, scalable and resilient PROTECTED and OFFICIAL mission cloud platforms to the entire agency. The teamwork with customers and providers to deliver cloud hosted, and cloud supported solutions. PROTECTED Amazon Web Services (AWS) is ASD's multi-classification and corporately managed AWS compute environment and is a key part of ASD's multi-cloud strategy. About the Role ASD requires AWS Cloud Engineers for the design and delivery of a scalable, repeatable, secure, and functional system solutions to support ASD's goals and objectives for PROTECTED and OFFICIAL capabilities while also considering dependency and dependent systems and services. The ASD 5 AWS Cloud Engineer will be required to complete the below tasks across the ASD Enterprise: Under routine direction to perform and achieve moderately complex ICT support engineering work within an integrated workforce. Assist the AWS Cloud Platform Team with the design of IT service solution to meet specified requirements, compatible with agreed AWS cloud computing architectures and adhering to corporate policies and industry standards. Assist with adoption and adaptation of the end-to-end iteration of AWS Cloud development; delivery and management during design-time and run-time based on the context of the work and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan/driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. As a part of the Cloud Platform Team, assist with the design and implementation of large or complex AWS cloud-based service solutions. Advise and integrate approved security capabilities and work with the security specialists to fine tune and document. Automate system administration tasks such as deploying new systems or applying security patches to systems already running. Work closely with the Technical Team Lead to create test cases for use during and after implementation. Produce detailed service design specifications to form the basis for the realisation of AWS cloud based service solutions. Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications. Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities. Engage with relevant stakeholders and understand their expectations and concerns. Investigate and recommend solutions to ICT incidents that impact on the achievement of desired outcomes. Undertake specialist, technical research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessment, investigations and perform procedural, clerical, administrative support work to achieve results. Resolve incidents and problems using expertise in ICT support engineering, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action. As an ASD 6 AWS Cloud Engineer you will (in addition to the above): Maintain details of hardware and software configuration and maintenance activities to ensure records are kept up to date. Review and identify potential improvement to the process and to software products according to agreed designs and standards. Support and maintain knowledge from relevant vendors utilising support products and processes to meet outcomes. Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to transfer and collect information to conduct ICT support engineering activities. Assess and analyse ICT changes prior to installation and provide solutions. Accountable for ICT incident resolution, carry out ICT changes and refer to technical specialist for further assistance. Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees. Ability to interpret and provide advice within the ICT solutions implementation function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. Be customer focused, designing and delivering cost effective, secure and resilient cloud based PROTECTED and OFFICIAL supporting solutions. Ability to identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, streamline, and continually improve cloud based, or cloud utilising systems for customer capability. An ASD 6 AWS Cloud Engineer ideal candidate will have the following (in addition to the above): Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. Possess and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements Skill to provide detailed ICT support engineering, technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management. Possess the ability to undertake the role of team coach, being accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows for the wider team. Capability to build team capacity through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
