The Director of Information Technology (IT Director) is responsible for directing, planning, and organizing all activities of the Information Technology (IT) Department to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all information technology systems in accordance with the organization’s guiding policies and values. The Director also has the same responsibilities over the Communications (PBX) Department.
The Director will work collaboratively with other leaders in the organization as well as physicians and providers to execute strategic plans, implement, and evaluate operational programs, processes, and initiatives pertaining to IT applications and infrastructure. The Director is responsible for setting objectives and budget for the IT and Communications Departments and will evaluate, plan, coordinate, direct, and design operational activities of the departments as well as provide direction and support to all accountable staff.
Job Specific:
* Lead the Information Technology and Communications departments through effective planning, development, and execution of business process re-engineering, architecture, analytics, contract management, financial management, and resource management. (EF)
* Assume ultimate responsibility for the overall recruitment, hiring, evaluation, performance management, development, competency, and retention of qualified staff for areas of ownership. (EF)
* Actively engage stakeholders in the understanding and adherence to IT policies and procedures.
* Ensure timely and cost-effective performance of information systems operations and projects in compliance with regulations, hospital policies, and budget. (EF)
* Oversee the development, procurement, and deployment of computer and phone systems. (EF)
* Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure IT systems meet organizational needs and business objectives. (EF)
* Responsible for the preparation of the department’s operating and capital budgets and manages the operations of the department within the approved budget. (EF)
* Manage the resources (equipment, supplies, space, etc.) necessary to carry out the functions of the department. (EF)
* Maintain current knowledge of and apply with applicable regulatory agency guidelines, and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to information technology, privacy, security, confidentiality, and protection of information resources.
* Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars and workshops, participate in professional affiliations, and reviewing applicable, current literature.
* Participate in hospital committees, hospital-sponsored programs and activities, and civic community activities, as requested.

* Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
* Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
* Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.

Required:
Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
At least 5 years’ experience with management responsibility over an Information Technology Department within a healthcare environment leading group of 10 or more. EMR implementation experience. Experience with Cloud-based platforms.
Preferred:
Previous IT Director or similar experience; Meditech (Expanse) expert experience.

Required:
Communication and relationship skills necessary to collaborate with hospital administration, healthcare providers, cross-functional teams, and vendors; excellent negotiation skills with vendors; ability to empower and develop staff; proven proficiency and understanding in the latest technology for IT systems and applications; working knowledge of network architecture; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; excellent organization skills and attention to detail; excellent analytical and management skills.
