AO3 Project Costing Officer for a temporary government contract in Mackay Your new company An exciting opportunity to join a State Government Department, who provide transport infrastructure solutions for projects across Queensland. They are seeking an experienced Project Costing Officer on a full-time temporary contract, based in Mackay, QLD. Your new role As the Project Costing Officer, you support the team and play an integral part of the team covering a range of duties, as below - Undertake financial and timesheet transactions in relation to daily costing, revenue claims in projects and work orders using various department packages including SAP R/3 for financial transaction reconciliation. Identify and assist in the implementation of procurement practices and processes which significantly reduce materials and contractor costs. Contribute as part of a team to deliver more efficient and competitive products and services to clients. Monitor the financial position of projects and work orders and ensure only correct charges are being debited to projects or work orders and provide early warnings to management of any deviations beyond predetermined limits. Undertake "End of Month" and "on request" financial reporting to enable accurate project or work order tracking and to indicate the overall financial position of various projects. Prepare financial documentation in liaison with relevant line managers to facilitate procurement and ensure correct recording of financial transactions. Requisition and monitor the supply of goods and services to ensure workflows are uninterrupted. Investigate and resolve routine supplier complaints and feedback. Monitor inventory purchases and apportionment of costs and assist with stocktaking as required. Provide support, advice and expertise on costing and financial administration matters to project/team members. Prepare and check employee timesheets for validity of allowances and entitlements to enable correct payment in accordance with relevant Industrial Awards, work agreements and departmental policies. Investigate and resolve employee payroll discrepancies. Ensure good governance is maintained in all financial and administration responsibilities.
