The Cancer Australia Act 2006 established Cancer Australia to provide leadership and vision, support to consumers and health professionals, and make recommendations to the government about cancer policy and priorities. The agency is subject to the Public Service Act 1999, Auditor General Act 1997 and is a non-corporate Commonwealth entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and is part of the Health Portfolio.

The Role
Cancer Australia is seeking a talented and experienced senior executive to lead a branch providing high-quality policy and program advice. You will be an agile leader with excellent interpersonal skills, who can demonstrate sound judgement working in close collaboration with other branches in the Agency, other APS agencies and external stakeholders to deliver government policy and Agency outcomes.
The role requires a strong understanding of cancer (preferred but not essential), extensive public sector experience, and a demonstrated ability to build organisational capability and innovate. You will need to be a strategic thinker and be skilled at translating agency polices and strategies into action.
As a Branch Head, you will be a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the broader strategic leadership of the organisation and supporting the Agency to respond positively to current and emerging challenges in cancer control.

* Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and recommendations within the framework of broad policy parameters and required standards of professionalism and objectivity.
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications. (Post-graduate qualifications in Sciences, Public Policy and/or Government Administration and executive management will be well regarded).
