Department
An exciting opportunity is available for Critical Care trained Registered Nurses interested in joining the Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre.
The Emergency & Trauma Centre (E&TC) is a purpose-built modern facility and has been designed to manage in excess of 65,000 patients per annum. It has 80 treatment bays and is arbitrarily divided into 5 main clinical areas, including a 4 bed dedicated Behaviours of Concern secure unit. We treat patients who are suffering from serious illness or injury that could lead to severe complications if medical treatment is not received quickly. We strive to ensure all patients receive timely, high-quality care and receive prompt, upfront assessment by the most senior doctor available to minimise the time spent waiting.
The Alfred Hospital is a major adult tertiary referral hospital and is well known as one of Australasia’s busiest Trauma centres. In addition, it is home to many Victorian statewide services, including the Victorian Adult Burns Unit, Heart and Lung Transplant, HIV Medicine, Cystic Fibrosis, Hyperbaric Medicine, Clinical Haematology, Haemophilia and Malignant Adult Haematology.
The Emergency Department will see all emergencies for assessment and stabilisation. In addition, we provide an 24-bed Short-stay Observation Unit (ESSU) for initial care of selected conditions up to 24 hours.
