The Australian National University is seeking to appoint an outstanding Chief Information Security Officer. As a key member of the University Leadership Team, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) oversees cyber security leadership across the University, managing strategy, policy, programs, budgeting, risk management, assurance, and compliance.

The CISO is responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive cyber security strategy encompassing people, processes, and technologies. The CISO's role includes safeguarding the University against cyber threats, detecting and mitigating attacks, and ensuring resilience to recover from compromises with minimal disruption. The role will work closely with researchers and academic staff across all areas of the University to aid them in protecting their work, and that of their collaborators. The CISO will also work to ensure the security of the University’s students within the cybersecurity domain.
The role requires an experienced cybersecurity leader who excels in creating and implementing robust cybersecurity strategies; is adept at managing significant budgets and fosters a positive team culture focused on innovation, wellbeing and growth.
