Senior Integrity and Information Officer
About the role
The role will see you manage and support officers in complex end-to-end applications while meeting all obligations imposed either by statute or through Logan City Council’s policies and procedures. You will support the Coordinator, Principal’s, and Program Leader in driving programs to uplift the organisation, for example in relation to the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (IPOLA).
The position is not limited to RTI and IP; you will have the opportunity to delve into providing advice, guidance, and education to other branches regarding governance services within:
* Complaints management
* Insurance claims management
* Conflicts of interest and gifts and benefits
This role sits within the Corporate Governance Branch, which supports council providing best practice governance and transparent decision-making practices.
Position Responsibilities will include:
* Working independently, and being responsible for work tasks with minimal direction and within established timeframes.
* Interpreting and applying legislation and case law relevant to decisions, advice or reports generated.
* Exercise delegated authority as a decision-maker under the RTI and IP legislation, with a high level of written communication skills to explain legislative provisions and reasons for decisions in plain language.
* Assess, investigate and report on cases managed by the team. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships and interpersonal skills communicating complex concepts and respectful relationships.
* Work with a variety of stakeholders, providing written reports and information to internal and external stakeholders, including program leaders, branch managers, executive leadership team and councillors.
Qualification, knowledge, skills, and experience
* Well-developed knowledge and practical experience in dealing with information access legislation, privacy compliance and complaints management.
* Ability to research and analyse issues, write concise correspondence, and provide independent advice on a range of release of information issues.
* Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of legislation, particularly the RTI / IP Acts.
* Highly developed communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to influence, negotiate and tailor your message to your recipient including providing technical information in plain speak where required.
Highly desirable
Tertiary qualifications in Business and/or Law, or substantial demonstrated experience related to the role.
