The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services.Your role at St John of God Geelong HospitalYou will be an integral multi-disciplinary team member providing a high standard of care for patients in the areas of patient care, patient transport and support of the nursing care team as directed.The PositionAll direct patient care is carried out under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.Transfer patients using all forms of patient transport to all areas of the Hospital.All duties are carried out in accordance with the duty list.Perform manual handling of patients under supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.Assist Nursing Caregivers with the care of patients.Ensure privacy of patients is maintained.Understand role in an emergency and follow direction of the Coordinator.Maintain safe environment for patient contributing to patient comfort needs.Contribute to an efficient and timely patient admission, transfer and discharge process.Provide focused supervision of a particular patient(s) as directed by Registered/Enrolled Nurse to eliminate risk to particular patient(s) e.g., provide companion support.You will have Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or similar; or currently studying in a health related field at a tertiary level and demonstrate well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.To succeed, you will have the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to identify work priorities and plan to meet them, demonstrating effectiveness in working in a team environment.
