ABOUT THE ROLE
AMSA's Operations division carries out a range of activities to ensure vessels are maintained in good condition, operated safely by people with the required skills, and that cargoes are handled and stowed appropriately to ensure safe transit. Our people undertake a range of flexible and targeted compliance functions, including communication and education, provision of information and advice, certification and monitoring activities, incident investigation, and the issue of notices as the need arises.
As a Port Marine Surveyor within Operations, your role will involve:
* Undertaking marine surveys, inspections, and investigations to establish compliance with maritime safety, pollution, and other legislation.
* Liaising with industry on technical matters and representing AMSA in appropriate forums.
* Remaining calm and focused when working under pressure.
* Carrying out compliance and permissioning activities as required.
* Committing to the AMSA Code of Conduct and Values.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
* Marine Engineer Class 1, or Master (Unlimited) Certificates of Competency, which may or may not be currently valid, or an equivalent tertiary Degree (e.g. Naval Architect).
* Significant demonstrated experience in the maritime industry as a senior officer or senior experience in the maritime industry.
* Knowledge of the domestic and international maritime safety regulation regimes and understanding of the principles of various inspection regimes.
* Ability to hold and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
* Ability to hold and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
* Hold and maintain a current driver’s licence.
