About the role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Trainee Signal Maintainer to join our Port Augusta / Whyalla team in South Australia. Under supervision, this role will conduct activities relating to the installation, maintenance and repair of all signalling and level crossing equipment, and report on the performance of the signalling asset to ensure safe and effective operation.
Once fully qualified, this role will be responsible for the maintenance and fault clearance of Aurizon’s signalling and wayside assets predominantly in SA, (With an expectation of occasional travel in the NT), including active level crossings, switch machines, stream flow monitors and other associated equipment.
About you:
As a trainee you will need to undertake the necessary training and requirements to achieve a Certificate IV in Electrical (Rail Signalling). Training includes attending the Aurizon Training Centre in Rockhampton over approximately five, 2-week blocks per year, to meet the training requirements and become a fully qualified Signal Maintainer. You will:
* Be a qualified Electrical Tradesperson.
* Possess a strong work ethic and positive can-do attitude.
* Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative.
* Have a strong commitment to safety and ability to actively apply safety management principles.
In addition to the above, you must be willing and able to travel when required as part of your ongoing development and training.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
* An electrical trade qualification or equivalent
* Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
