The Upper Macquarie County Council trading as Central Tablelands Weeds Authority (CTWA) is a single purpose local control authority for biosecurity priority weeds (formerly known as noxious weeds) in the local government areas of Bathurst, Blayney, Lithgow and Oberon.
It is funded by those Councils and the NSW State Government.
CTWA covers a region of approximately 13,500 square kilometres with a population of over 77,000 people, in a very diverse area that includes productive agricultural lands, forests and large areas of national park.
CTWA has a governing body that consists of eight Members who are elected from amongst the Councillors of each of the constituent Councils.
The General Manager has extensive statutory and operational delegations, implements the decisions of Council on their behalf, as well as manages the day-to-day administrative functions of CTWA.
CTWA is responsible for:
Enforcing the Biosecurity Act in provisions in the constituent Council areas.
Undertaking contracted weed control activities in those Council areas on public roads and the aerial spraying program for private landholders.
Enforcement activities are directed at landowning entities including private landholders (rural and residential), Forestry Corporation, Transport NSW and National Parks.
The General Manager is overall responsible for six to eight employees consisting of the Biosecurity Operations Manager, Biosecurity Administration Manager, Program Assistant, and Weeds Biosecurity Officers.
You will be results driven, have strong leadership skills, commercial experience to grow the business, continuously work to improve the effectiveness of the organisation and provide a positive and results driven culture within the organisation.
