System Engineer Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe position involves formulating engineering design concepts and performance requirements, integrating cost estimates with program plans, and ensuring technical and engineering requirements are met. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing technical analyses during development phases, developing contract engineering specifications, and providing direction to cognizant personnel in test and evaluation planning.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFormulate engineering design concepts and performance requirements for assigned systems.Integrate cost estimates with program plans, including schedules, development requirements, and test and evaluation procedures.Perform or direct technical analyses required during the development phases of assigned systems.Develop or direct the development of contract engineering specifications that define system requirements and parameters.Evaluate and ensure compliance with all technical and engineering requirements, including quality assurance, reliability, maintainability, and safety engineering.Provide direction to cognizant personnel in planning and developing the Test and Evaluation Master Plan, considering engineering and technical requirements and procedures.Develop, review, and provide authoritative input on program technical and mission documentation, including Operational Requirements and Systems Concept Papers.Represent assigned systems as the engineering planning and management representative at program reviews, contact reviews, briefings, and budget hearings.Key Skills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical capabilities, and effective communication skills. Experience in engineering design, project management, and technical analysis is highly desirable.
