Job Description
The Murchison District spans the coast from Dongara in the south to Kalbarri in the north, extending inland to Cue. Our District office is based in Geraldton with work centres in Kalbarri, Thundelarra, and Cue.
We manage diverse and breathtaking lands and waters, featuring coastal cliffs, dunes, and heath, as well as rich marine communities, outback ranges, and vast scrublands.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate effective liaison and communication with Traditional Owner groups, other agencies, community groups, and special interest groups to promote and implement joint management objectives within the Murchison District.
* Integrate district operations into a strategic joint management implementation framework.
* Maintain awareness of ILUAs, district programs, budget, and staffing to effectively represent the district manager and other programs in joint management meetings, management planning workshops, and negotiations.
* Work closely with the Aboriginal Engagement, Planning, and Lands Branch to develop and implement Indigenous Land Use Agreements and joint management agreements.
* Provide support to managers and Traditional Owners on issues related to conservation land management, Aboriginal heritage sites, and the protection of Aboriginal heritage.
Selection Criteria
* Evidence of highly developed oral communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience effectively negotiating, communicating, and forming working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability and willingness to work with Traditional Owners to deliver native title aspirations and goals through joint management, cooperation, or collaborative arrangements.
* Understanding of natural area management for cultural, biodiversity, recreation, education, and tourism values in a joint management context.
* Considerable experience in administrative and financial management, including project management, budget preparation, and expenditure control.
