The Bloomfield Group owns and operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS.
The Bloomfield Group also proudly owns and operates Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business and a biofuel processing operation.
About the role
The Bloomfield Group is seeking to appoint a Mining Engineer to join our team at Rix’s Creek Mine Site. The successful candidate will support the Technical Services to meet mine planning requirements through the quality control of production statistics, undertaking mine planning and design, scheduling, advice, surveying, process improvement, and other areas of the business as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
* Quality control of production statistics
* Provide production reports on daily, weekly, yearly and as needed basis
* Drive continuous improvement in the capture, management and reporting of production data
* Liaise with other departments to capture, store and report on statistics for maintenance and production planning and other requirements
* Manage the downloads and reporting of information from VIMs and any other fleet management systems
* Review and provide advice on processes, resources and equipment that will result in safe, effective, economical and environmentally sound coal mining
* Conduct production and time and motion studies
* Manage efficiency projects on production equipment and crews
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering systems and procedures
* Analysis of haul routes and haul truck requirements for a variety of projects
* Assist in the day to day running of the mine including drill and blast design and design of blocks, ramps, and dumps.
* Assist with the monitoring and general surveying of the mine
* Assist in geological modelling and reporting
* Provide advice as to the mines compliance with consents, licences and leases
* Assist in the preparation of mine schedules, production planning and mine design
* Assist in scheduling and communication of coal and parting sequences, calculation of coal reconciliations, production of seam sections and driving initiatives to increase coal recovery
* Assist in mine schedules, production planning, mine design and haulage requirements and preparation of reports and estimates of costs involved in developing the mine
* Manage contractors to ensure they work safely and productively to scope and/or plan in the most cost effective manner.
* Assist in development of yearly open cut budget
* Tailings Dam Inspections
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining related discipline (Mining or Civil)
* Post graduate experience working in an Open Cut coal mining environment
* Computer literate in Microsoft Office and mining planning software (Vulcan and Spry highly desired)
* Sound analytical and report writing skills
