The Role
The Building Services team is looking for a highly motivated and adaptable person who is passionate about their career in building surveying. As Cadet Building Surveyor, you will be part of a small, supportive and engaging team and will provide advice and assistance to a diverse community of stakeholders across multiple facets of the building industry and community. Your primary focus will be:
* Assess, inspect, follow up and prepare reports for Council Report and Consent Applications.
* Assist in the inspection of buildings and building works in relation to complaints, essential safety measure audits and swimming pools, and assist in preparing documentation and maintaining accurate and complete records in relation to the same.
* Assist in maintaining the Swimming Pool and Spa register and implementation of processes to achieve objectives of the Building Regulations.
* Provide advice and liaise with relevant stakeholders including ratepayers, builders, occupiers and other Council departments via telephone, email and in person with building-related enquiries.
* Provide a positive personal contribution to the successful operation of the Building Services Unit.
* Prepare draft reports, infringements, building notices and correspondence as required.
* Assist in the provision of administrative support in relation to the activities of the Building Services Unit.

About You
You will have completed or be working towards completing tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying and be able to demonstrate your knowledge of the Building Act & Regulations, National Construction Code of Australia and Australian Standards. You will also have the ability to effectively plan and organise your own workload and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines and understand building terminology and construction practices.
