Duties
1. Work in partnership with other State Growth business units across the State to ensure the effective referral of client needs, and implementation of new programs, processes and management systems.
2. Build a portfolio of clients and maintain high level professional business relationships working directly with the business owners and managers of these businesses. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
3. Provide strategic advice on specific business development issues and into policy issues and other issues as they arise.
4. Assist in the delivery of the Advanced Manufacturing Action Plan 2024 and its successor. Support delivery of the Tasmanian Defence Industry Strategy 2023 and other relevant industry development government priorities and strategies as well as the delivery of ICN services.
5. Design and deliver projects either individually or as part of a team to support the strategic aims related to advanced manufacturing and defence industries of government.
6. Identify and analyse development opportunities at the enterprise or industry level. Assess the potential for assistance from the Department, coordinating applications, project assessment and financial assistance where necessary.
7. As a part of a team or individually assess the business needs of target clients in key sectors and provide high quality support to assist, them to develop strategies to maximise employment, investment and growth outcomes. Monitor and evaluate outcomes. This may include encouraging and facilitating access to government and private sector programs and services that address identified client needs. Solutions include provision of information, access to skilled services, financial assistance and business counselling and facilitation services.
8. Assist in the preparation of detailed submissions and recommendations for financial assistance for consideration by the Department, and other State and Federal funding bodies. Prepare correspondence, ministerial responses, briefing notes, board papers and other reports as required and to a high standard.
9. Represent the Department within industry, business, local government, wider communities and other government agencies. Extensive and regular liaison and consultation will be undertaken with other Departmental staff, external authorities, and other Government Departments.
10. Accountable for the planning, performance measurement, tracking of allocated individual business development activities and budgets, and contributing to these issues at the business unit level.
