Mechanical Process Improvement CoordinatorPermanentWe are seeking an Engineering specialist to join our Mount Gambier Engineering team in the role of Mechanical Process Improvement Coordinator.About the roleWe are growing rapidly at our Mt Gambier facility with a major construction development taking place over the next 5-7 years with ongoing work beyond that.For this full-time, permanent position, we are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering specialist to continuously monitor the performance of the plant control systems, identifying solutions to technical issues and identifying improvement opportunities within the existing process through optimizing line speed, efficiency, productivity, whilst delivering a quality final product.In this role you will be responsible for:Identifying, planning and implementing key process improvement opportunitiesDriving improvements in line efficiencies and productivity targetsCollaborating with the Production teams to analyze performance data, identifying continuous improvement opportunitiesFacilitating continuous improvement initiatives designed to eliminate waste, non-value added activities and improve performance across safety, quality, line speed, efficiency, productivity, and costsLeading engineering projects as part of project teams that manage project governance, technical, procurement, material, construction, design coordination, start-up, and close outCompleting drawings, instructions, and specifications for projects where requiredProviding technical support for the teamSupervising and providing coaching and development to apprenticesAbout youAs our preferred candidate, you will have:A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the engineering field, preferably working in a timber, timber fibre, manufacturing or heavy industry environmentExcellent leadership skills, ideally supervisory experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environmentProven experience in providing engineering expertise on diverse projects, including the installation of production processing machineryEffective communication and relationship-building skillsStrong time management and organizational skillsHigh technical and analytical skillsStrong numeric, oral, and written skillsKnowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, and environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projectsFamiliarity with continuous improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, TPM, Kaizen)Demonstrated change management and transformation experienceTo be successful, you must be motivated and be willing to put in the effort to complete the role to the high standard required. Attention to detail is paramount.As part of the selection process, applicants must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical examination which includes functional, audiometric, vision, drug, and alcohol testing.
