ABOUT THE BRANCH
The COMCAR and Programs Branch is responsible for delivering high quality, secure and confidential car-with-driver, and other ground transport services to high profile clients, such as the Governor-General and Prime Minister (both current and former), parliamentarians, members of the Federal Judiciary and other high office holders. Additionally, the Branch provides secretariat support to the Australian Political Exchange Council and administers two grant programs.
COMCAR provides ground transport and associated support services to visiting Guests of Government such as Royalty, Heads of State, Heads of Government, and other foreign dignitaries. COMCAR frequently delivers services during major international events, such as the ASEAN Special Summit, Group of Twenty meetings (G20), the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other Ministerial forums hosted in Australia. COMCAR has a national presence, with drivers located in each state and territory.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The COMCAR Employee Services team has the responsibility for supporting the delivery of our car-with-driver services to our clients through recruitment and onboarding, staffing advice, casual payroll management, HR reporting and workforce analytics.
The Senior HR Officer is a Human Resources (HR) professional with a wide range of generalist experience across the broad spectrum of HR. They are responsible for delivery of HR services for a largely casual workforce and coordination of services across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
o Coordinate and deliver payroll services to the casual workforce including fortnightly payroll processing (Driving Workforce), responding to and investigating payroll queries, and ensuring adjustments.
o Mentor and coach COMCAR staff and uplift processes to ensure continuous improvement.
o Draft employee relations advice in accordance with legislation, policy and guidance documents in liaison with Departmental Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
o Communicate and connect with SMEs to provide advice on administration and management of HR processes for COMCAR.
o Deliver Work Health and Safety (WHS) Secretariat for COMCAR, including coordination, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
o Organise COMCAR and Programs operational workforce, specifically coordinating temporary registers, medicals (initial and annual), uniforms, security clearances and onboarding through connections with SMEs both internal and external.
o Build and sustain strong working relationships with a range of critical stakeholders internally and externally to support COMCAR and Programs.
o Undertake financial management and record-keeping activities.
o Identify and progress opportunities for HR practice and/or process improvements.
