Who will you be working with? Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager.
Where is the position located? This is full time position at our office in Rydalmere NSW
Design and develop real-time embedded software applications for onboard locomotive control systems. To ensure all software requirements defined are delivered on schedule and within budget. Software to be developed must be able to meet safety and quality standards specified by the industry.
What will your typical day look like?
7. Ensure software products are developed in accordance with the software requirement specifications.
8. Ensure all software development activities are strictly following standard procedures.
9. Compose and review engineering design documents.
10. Participate in writing engineering technical proposals.
11. Develop high-quality software design and architecture.
12. Develop complex embedded software and/or real-time applications to run on various operating systems, including QNX, Linux, Windows etc.
13. Identify, breakdown, prioritize tasks for software project planning.
14. Develop tools and simulators to assist with product software development.
15. Conduct peer technical review.
16. Troubleshoot and debug embedded software.
17. Perform unit testing on software changes.
18. Collaborate with internet team members, external customers and vendors to address software issues.
19. Produce technical documentation.
20. Provide technical support to Wabtec customers and Wabtec internal staff.
21. Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements.
What do we want to know about you?
22. Tertiary Degree in Bachelor of Engineering or Computer Science.
23. Highly competent in embedded C/C++ software development.
24. Good understanding of programming for RTOS.
25. Familiar with development environment under Windows and Linux.
26. Proven experience in software development in a senior role.
27. Experience using system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks.
28. 6 to 8 years of related experience in embedded real-time operating systems.
29. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Bash scripts, Python, Javascript);
30. Knowledge of relational databases.
31. Experienced in RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, wireless communications, network protocols.
32. Familiarity with various operating systems (QNX, Linux, Windows); and
33. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
