As an Aerospace Engineer Officer, you’ll manage the maintenance, airworthiness and warfare capability of the Navy's helicopters. You’ll develop expertise in helicopter structures, engines, aerodynamics, electrical systems, communication systems, navigation systems, weapons systems, software, and more. It will be your job to ensure aircrew have safe and capable aircraft for operations and missions, working onboard ships and ashore.
The professional development you gain as a Navy Engineer enables automatic Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia, giving you international recognition of your engineering competency.
Your duties could include, but aren't limited to:
1. Engineering management encompassing, design work, certification, fleet management, logistics management and contract management
2. Leading and managing a team of aviation technicians
3. Managing the sustainment of Navy's helicopters from their introduction into service through to their disposal
4. Project management for the acquisition of new aircraft and equipment
5. Capability life cycle Management
6. Policy and regulation development
7. Auditing maintenance standards
8. Trailing and testing aircraft design changes and new aircraft
9. Instructing and managing aviation training
Opportunities will also be available for you to undertake specialist roles in safety investigation, flight test engineering or aircraft structural integrity management.
