Experience in Financial Reporting with US GAAP
ROLE SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading producer of forest seedlings in North America, is seeking a Sr. Consultant & Interim Controller to join their team. The company operates a diverse network of nurseries and is currently in year four of a private equity investment. They are looking for an experienced professional to assist with finance transformation as they continue to scale through M&A. The successful candidate will have a background in full cycle accounting, audit, controls and process improvement, and will play a critical role in the company's growth.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Join a growing company that is on the cusp of aggressive scaling. As the new CFO leads finance transformation efforts, you will step into the Controller role and manage day-to-day activities. With a focus on internal controls and procedures, you will lead the integration of a major US acquisition and lay the foundation for future deals. The current Controller recently resigned and the role is ideal for a seasoned professional with experience in PE-backed or public company environments.
SUCCESS CRITERIA & DELIVERABLES:
- Hand off from exiting Controller
- Own month-end close process (begin to reduce from 25+ days)
- Successful integration of a major US acquisition
- Process re-design and internal control improvements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of experience in the agriculture industry
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, etc)
- CPA designation preferred
- Experience with ASPE, US GAAP, and IFRS
- Experience in full cycle accounting, audit, and controls
- Experience with ERP implementations and process improvement
- Familiarity with private equity and public reporting
- Experience with M&A integration and internal control design
- Cross-border experience (Canada and US)
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software such as Epicor
- Knowledge of US GAAP, ASPE, and IFRS
- Experience in full cycle accounting and audit procedures
- Understanding of process improvement and internal control design
- Familiarity with private equity and public company environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
