Be a tradie in the Navy operating, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing advanced technical and military hardware onboard ships and ashore.
Whether you already have a trade, you're an apprentice, or you have no experience at all, you'll be paid from day one.
You'll gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job trade training.
You may also be able to use your existing qualifications and be eligible for recognition of prior learning.
As an Electronics Technician, you'll specialise in one of the following streams: Communications, Sensors, Weapons, or Fire Control, working onboard ships and ashore.
Depending on your stream, your duties will include, but are not limited to maintaining: Communications: Internal communication systems (broadcast systems, telephone systems) External communication systems (HF, VHF, UHF radios, satellite communications) Sensors: Navigation and long range air search RADAR systems and displays Underwater systems (SONAR, torpedo counter measures, underwater telephone) Navigation aids (gyro-compasses, inertial navigation systems, GPS) Electronic warfare systems (electromagnetic signal interrogation systems) Weapons: Weapon systems (gun, missile and torpedo systems) Hydraulic systems Fire Control: Ships combat and fire control systems Optical tracking systems As a sailor, you'll perform additional duties and learn more skills to become highly trained and efficient in supporting the whole ship.
This may include ship security, firefighting, boarding party, flood repair, line handling, first aid, flight deck duties, replenishment at sea, medical emergency team member, ammunitioning or ceremonial duties.
Electronics Technician do not maintain electrical services.
