Training as a cadet involves working in one of our main offices while completing study part time. The role is ideal for those seeking a long term career as an accountant. You will be provided with ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including financial assistance and leave provision for study, with the goal of becoming a qualified accountant (CA or CPA). You would be required to complete a university degree externally but those who have partially or fully completed their study are also be encouraged to apply. Training and development opportunities (both internal and external) can be modified to suit an individual’s experience. The combination of study and work allows cadets to instantly utilise the knowledge that they are gaining. All team members have been through some training in their careers so know what it is like to start from scratch. Team members assist with training, mentoring and support of cadets. Social functions with work colleagues are planned and organised by team members to make sure there are times to mix in a social settings. We expect that some of our cadets will go on to become managers within the firm, and in some cases a director, however we tailor an individual’s development to what they want to achieve. We need team members at every level to ensure that we run a successful business which meets but more often exceeds our clients expectations. General conditions of employment for a cadet will include: • Be subject to a 6 month probation period to ensure a cadetship is the right fit for both parties • Make a commitment to the firm for 3 years in the first instance after the probation period • Participate in annual performance and salary reviews • Receive the legislated entitlements of annual leave, sick leave etc • Receive a bursary of up to $2,000 per year to help with university books and course costs on a reimbursement basis • Be expected to maintain good academic standards • Be provided with 2 days of study leave per subject in addition to other leave provisions Murray Nankivell believes in strong mutual commitment and contribution towards study and work by the cadet to set up and achieve the best start to a professional accounting career.
