Great benefits and work environment Job Reference: 953803 About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated Research Fellow or Research Associate to lead the Economic Burden Assessment component of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Climate Change and Health Impact Assessment and contribute to the NHMRC HEAL National Research Network on Environmental Change and Health.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position lasting 24 months.
This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the economic valuation of environmental health risks and their impacts.
To learn more about the School of Population Health: https://www.curtin.edu.au/about/learning-teaching/health-sciences/curtin-school-of-population-health/ In this role, you will, but are not limited to: Lead the Health Economics Burden component of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Climate Change and Health Impact Assessment and contribute to the NHMRC HEAL National Research Network on Environmental Change and Health.
Develop and implement economic valuations of environmental health risks using methodologies such as Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs), Value of Statistical Life Years (VSLYs), and comprehensive Cost-Benefit Analyses (CBA).
Translate and communicate research outcomes to industry stakeholders and research partners through journal publications, government reports, policy briefs, and conference presentations.
Participate in the development of funding proposals to support future research initiatives.
Selection Criteria – who we are looking for: A doctoral qualification or progress towards a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Health Economics, Econometrics, Public Health, or a related field.
Evidence of substantial engagement with interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research, demonstrated through leadership or significant contributions within cross-disciplinary research teams, co-authorship of research outputs that bridge multiple disciplines and integration of methods or insights across different fields.
Evidence of research quality and impact through publication in high-quality refereed outlets, demonstrated by journal rankings, citation indices and other esteem measures.
Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Desirable Commitment to capacity building for colleagues and students in the wider research group.
A history of submitting competitive grant applications and managing contractual arrangements and expenditure.
Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students.
Role Requirements: As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the duration of this role.
