BACHS provides a variety of programs under a Primary Health Care model and also offers Visiting Specialist Services.We have a passionate team working hard to meet the needs of the Community and are now seeking an Oral Health Therapist in a new facility.The roleThe Oral Health Therapist (Level 2) will provide direct patient care within their scope of practice and in accordance with BACHS clinical standards, policies, procedures, processes and guidelines to ensure the provision of high quality efficient oral health services.
The position will be responsible for performing specified tasks, clinically related or administrative functions, as identified by the Clinic Practice Manager, and Locum Dental Officer.A rotation period of 3 weeks on 1 week off, working as part of a dental team.Your objectives include:Provide high quality, safe oral health clinical services within the Oral Health Therapy scope of practice.
Oral Health Therapist clinical duties may include Hygienist or extended scope of practice within personal competencies, if appropriately registered.Educate, promote & motivate patients in the prevention of oral disease.
In addition, promote, coordinate, and implement Oral Health programs, in a population health model by developing and maintaining partnerships across a broad range of providers.Level 2 are required to have the ability to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, but may require professional supervision from more senior staff when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.About youLevel 2 are competent independent practitioners who have at least 2 years' clinical experience in their profession and work under minimal professional supervision.You will also need:Relevant current registration from the Dental Board of Australia as an Oral Health Therapist or both the registrations of Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist.Demonstrate high level recent clinical proficiencies and patient management practice in the provision of oral health care, commensurate with years of experience.Demonstrated evidence as a Level 2 Oral Health Therapist.Sound understanding of population and public oral health issues with a demonstrated commitment to health promotion programs, activities, with skills in presentation, training and group facilitation.Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people including co-workers, patients and other health professionals as an effective team member.Willingness to participate, or evidence of participation in quality activities.Knowledge and thorough understanding of current Dental Infection Control procedures.Current valid and unrestricted Australian State or Territory drivers licence, and willingness to travel to other townships for oral health promotional work.Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for this role.We offer an excellent range of benefits including:Full non-profit status with salary sacrifice available to reduce tax and increase your take home pay.An opportunity to really make a difference to our community.Supported study and professional development.Relocation assistance.For this locum position we are paying a rate of $60 per hour.
