Ascent is directly involved in supporting Australian Defence Force platforms across the Land, Maritime and Air domains, as well as the latest in guided weapons technology across Defence, including the acquisition of new systems, sustainment of in service weapons and conducting Research and Development in areas of Strategic and National Defence interests.

About The RoleWe are seeking expressions of interest from high-level problem solvers and change-makers for opportunities across Australia.
Working within the Defence and Security space, you will be working alongside other defence and contractor personnel as part of a team. Your responsibilities and prior experience may cover some of the following areas:
Working within a Defence Regulated Engineering environment to create and or review Engineering Artefacts such as Engineering Management Plans, Test and Evaluation Plans and System Certification documentation.Management of aircraft and unmanned aviation systems IAW Defence Aviation Safety Regulations.Facilitate the preparation of Maritime Armaments Review Board (MARB) documentation.Manage and co-ordinate technical and project outcomes.Developing requirements and specifications for new and proposed Defence systems.Test and Evaluation of Defence Systems.Certification of Defence Systems, processes & artefacts.Providing engineering recommendations and advice for briefs and presentations on Defence Systems.Application of 'System Safety' standards and practices.Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management (Sponsors & Stakeholders).About youWe are interested to speak with exceptional candidates that fit the following description:
An engineering degree or technical / trades background with at least eight years experience.Australian Defence Force or Australian Public Service experience.You must be an Australian Citizen with a current or reinstatable ASGVA clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility criteria can be found at Defence AGSVA.ITAR regulations apply and as such your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability.While not essential, the following qualifications and experience would be highly regarded:
Post graduate qualifications in weapons system, explosive ordnance and associated defence technologies.Experience managing explosives within the Defence and Security Sector, or experience in another heavily regulated industry e.g. aviation, nuclear, off-shore oil and gas.A high level of knowledge on weapon systems or other complex electro-mechanical systems and related technology.Experience in Defence or Government acquisition and sustainment.As well as familiarity with:
Guided and/or non-guided weapons and munitions.Defence technical regulatory frameworks.Explosive ordnance, materiel management, technical management.Certification/integration activities, and GWEO related Land, Sea, and Air operations experience.Working at AscentAs a consultant at Ascent, and part of the A-Team, you can expect to have autonomy in a high-trust environment, and to have your professional expertise and opinions heard and respected.
