JOHNEX explosives is undergoing an exciting period of growth, and in order to help manage this growth, we are seeking an innovative Software Engineer to join the team. Working within our Technical Support team, this position is offered on a full-time basis and will be located at JOHNEX explosives Head Office in Belmont, Perth.
The primary function of the Software Engineer is to dream, design, develop and champion high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software to support our operations.

The Software Engineer role requires someone who has vision, can think, and problem solve, has plenty of energy, is adaptable and comfortable assisting with all tasks as required.
The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter who is equipped with a ‘Can Do’ attitude and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and 'get stuck in'.
We would love to work with someone interested in pushing their knowledge, who gets bored with repetition and who thrives on tackling the kind of exciting challenges that only an Explosives company can offer!
To be successful in this role you will possess:
* BSc degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field
* Ability to develop software in PHP is highly regarded
* Knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies
* Proficiency in software engineering tools
* Willingness to travel
* High attention to detail
* Previous industry experience is an advantage but not essential

* Current "Fit of work" mine site medical certificate
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Participate in the design, support, and promotion of existing internal software platforms
* Participate in company Research and Development projects
* Regularly communicate and support customers in respect to existing and new technologies
* Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
* Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
* Write well-designed, testable code
* Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
* Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
* Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
* Document and maintain software functionality
* Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
* Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
* Comply with project plans and industry standards
* Assist JOHNEX business teams with technical and product support expertise
* Adhere to all company procedures, health, safety, environment and business ethics policies
* Interact and cooperate with all company employees
* Participate in company quality, safety and environmental assurance associated training programs
