In this critical role, you will ensure payroll compliance, governance, and operational excellence across a large workforce within the Optus structure under Enterprise Agreements. As a senior subject matter expert, you will lead complex payroll matters, oversee payroll governance, and ensure strict adherence to Australian legislative and internal compliance requirements.The day to dayManage and oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax legislation, superannuation, and contractual obligations.Execute end-to-end payroll processing with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.Support payroll projects, including remediation initiatives, to drive process improvements and operational excellence.Evaluate existing payroll processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement innovative solutions to streamline operations and improve overall payroll performance.Monitor legislative changes, review payroll policies, and implement best practices to maintain compliance with employment regulations and industrial instruments.Lead resolution of complex payroll issues, resolving disputes and ensuring governance standards are met.Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and risk assessments, proactively attending to compliance risks.Mentor and lead Payroll Consultants and Analysts, ensuring accountability and high performance.Collaborate with People & Culture, Finance, and IT teams to implement best practices and resolve issues.Why you are our next Payroll Senior AdvisorExtensive experience in managing high volume in-house payroll services for large corporate bodies.Excellent experience with Australian payroll legislation covering taxation, superannuation, leave entitlements, State Revenue, and ABS reporting.Experience in implementing or upgrading various payroll software.In depth experience in payroll processing, preferably within a large organisation covered by Enterprise Agreements.Excellent leadership and organisational planning skills.Ability to influence across a varied population.What’s in it for you?3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit!Inclusive paid parental leave, up to 14 weeks for the primary care giverAll Optus employees have access to resources, webinars and support via the ‘Parents at Work portal’Own your own growth by accessing an extensive online and facilitator led learning catalogue.Connect at work through our employee-led volunteer groups: Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+), United Veterans, Yarn Network, Wellbeing Network and Young Professionals.Vibrant campus life, variety of facilities including restaurants, cafes, gymnasium, GP, and post officeFree Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes); morning and afternoon!Keen to see what it’s really like to work at Optus?
