Position Description:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and skilled Outdoor Educators to join our Education and Delivery team at The Outdoor Education Group (OEG). As an Outdoor Educator, you will have the unique opportunity to facilitate outdoor learning programs and activities in various remote locations across Australia.
Responsibilities:
* Lead groups in outdoor learning programs, ensuring educational and recreational outcomes are achieved while minimising risk.
* Foster an open and honest communication style, encouraging constructive feedback among team members.
* Continuously develop your skills to facilitate effective group interaction and individual learning.
* Practice and promote minimal environmental impact principles during activities and encourage discussions about environmental conservation.
* Collaborate with team members, promoting a culture of idea sharing and problem-solving.
* Deliver personalised learning experiences, taking into account the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of participants.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with school staff members and other support team members during program activities.
* Make informed decisions based on training, OEG policies, and procedures.
* Manage time effectively and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Leadership or a Degree in Outdoor Education (desirable).
* Confident swimmer, able to swim 200m, tread water for up to 5 minutes and confidently drag someone from the water.
* Proficient in various outdoor skill sets, including bushwalking, skiing, snowboarding, caving, ropes access, rock climbing, cycling, canoeing, rafting, and sea kayaking.
* Passion for outdoor education and its role in building social capital in young Australians.
* Flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and a solution-focused mindset.
* Ability to maintain professionalism and establish clear communication with program stakeholders.
* Working with Children Check (State-based).
* Remote First Aid (minimum for WA) OR Wilderness First Aid (NSW & VIC) with current CPR (annual renewal).
* Manual driver's license.
